I've been a storyteller since I could talk, and got the writing bug when I published my first book in Mrs. Quigley's 1st Grade class by winning the National Young Author's Contest. Not only did I study literature in college and earn a BA in English, but I still continue to learn the craft of writing and have studied privately under poet and writing coach, Christi Krug, children's author Jill Rubalcaba, screenwriter Cynthia Whitcomb, indie author and writing coach Sarra Cannon, and legendary storyteller, Michael Hauge. I'm a steadfast plotter, and write across genres, including short and long narratives, poetry, and screenwriting.
Writing is work. And it can be lonely, grueling, doubt-riddled labor. But it can also be a playground, and there can be community and comfort along the way.

My love of reading with hot drinks started early.
1978
I was the kid in 2nd grade commissioned to draw pictures of horses, mermaids, and sharks by fellow students in exchange for their carton of chocolate milk at lunch or that pretty agate they found on the playground.
When I discovered digital art 20 years ago, I found an entirely new medium of untapped creative potential. I learned industry-standard digital design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and rather fell in love with the intersection of story and design.
I keep a close eye on what's actually working across genres, so my clients don't just receive beautiful covers — they receive covers designed to connect with the right readers and sell.
I studied user experience and interface design, which means my work isn't just beautiful — it's intuitive, intentional, and created with real readers in mind.
Whether it's a book cover, interior, or supporting visuals, every design choice is made to guide the eye, create connection, and support the story being told.
I continue to refine my craft so that my work stays thoughtful, relevant, and aligned with what today's readers respond to — helping your book find the audience it was meant for.
I'm driven to create, and the scope of my creative interests are vast and ever-expanding. My home, my writing, my art, my cooking, gardening, designing, decorating...are always in a state of exploration. It's something sacred to be able to make something new, to take courage and try a different stroke or shade or flavor, and it's made even more divine when I can share that journey, and inspire you to take courage and try something new, too.
Nova Vita is my blog, a place where I curate my discoveries, and encourage you to explore.
Creativity is a kind of wild and honest magic which I believe we each possess.
